A note about people coming:
ReplyDelete1) Burke must leave between 10:30 and 1:20. During that time will be lunch, business, and field games.
2) Martin may or may not come - if it comes, it will be in the afternoon.
@Martin: Don't come later than 1:30 cuz we'll be in the woods. But try to come.
thanks for the calendar stuff...even if i did want it a month ago. :)
ReplyDeleteSome basic info about CTF:
ReplyDelete1) The boundary markers will be mostly orange ties, NOT pieces of paper as originally planned. There will be some pieces of paper though, with Xs on them
2) THIS IS STEALTH CTF!!!! Big boundaries, lots of different types of terrain. Try to blend into the forest and be prepared to go off trail if necessary. However, there will be a lot of pre-made trails to make use of as well
3) The boundaries cross the creek which is why you may get wet.
4) I haven't determined what I'll use for a flag yet - something cloth attached to some sort of pole. Will let you guys know when I figure it out
5) If anybody has a spare whistle LET ME KNOW! Burke & I were talking about making a noise requirement when you find the flag. We will discuss this more @ business
6) Rules: No guarding anything (including your flag and other people!). When you're tagged, you have to WALK back to the division line and wait a certain amount of time - probably 2-3 minutes. So there's no jail. You must make it obvious when you have the flag - otherwise you can sneak and hide all you want. Do not leave the boundaries. If you do, it counts as being tagged.
I've only played stealth CTF once, so this is sort of a trial. If it works well, we can organize a large-scale game with people from school. If it fails, we can easily switch to various types of tag, using the same boundaries.
Updates! That are all unimportant which is why they're in the comments.
ReplyDelete1) The cookies are in the oven. I hope nobody developed a spontaneous nut allergy. And they better be OK cuz I sorta ignored the recipe. :)
2) The flags will be whatever magically appears out of my basement cuz I don't know what to do for them. If anybody has an idea, either call me, or just bring two generic flags (material of your choice) to the park tomorrow. If we like your flags better than my flags, we will use them. BTW: if you bring a flag, make it something colorful, distinguishable, and bigish but not too bulky or heavy to run with.
3) The end.?
